8th Finish of 2017 Floss Daily

Hello again! The clock is ticking and I only have a few hours to share the rest of my 2017 finishes.  My 8th Finish was Floss Daily by Wee Little Stitches on Etsy.  I started this for Stitch Maynia on May 21, 2016 and finished it on July 25, 2017 (less than a week after my previous finish).

I think this was where I was the last time you saw it...

I loved stitching this due to the fun fabric color and I finally got to try out my small collection of hand dyed variegated floss!

I didn’t like that the color I used called Rapunzel for the wording didn’t stand out very much from the fabric color so I ripped it out and tried another color.

Here most of the bobbins are filled in with my floss stash from Mo’s Sale and Fiberlicious.

This is the order I used the floss in for the pattern.  All of the floss on bobbins is from Mo’s Sale and the others were from my Fiberlicious Halloween mystery package from 2016.

This is the finish!  It was actually my first time using Kreinik for the metallic needles.  The fabric is Plum 14 count Aida by Stitchnmomma.  What do you think?  I really recommend this design to everyone because it stitches up quickly and has so many possibilities for you to change the colors and make it your own! First Finish of 2017 Mom and Baby Turtle

Hello Stitchers and Crafters!  I figured I would take a little time to backtrack and get you caught up with my finishes so far this year.  It took until April for me to have my first project finish and it was.... my Heaven and Earth Designs Mom and Baby Turtle by Annya Kai!! I started this way back when on December 30th 2013 when I was still living in Norway.  I worked on it in Nepal and I finally finished stitching it on in Taipei on April 1st 2017!

Here is the finished stitching in all of its colorful glory...



This is where I had left off with it back in August after the Summer Olympic Challenge.



I had done everything so far with the cross country stitching method but then I decided I like the finished feeling of parking in a 10 x 10 square so I did the rest that way.  Here are some progress photos...







When my family went home for a visit back to Michigan I took this to my favorite framing shop.  And this is the result!



I went back and forth with choosing the pink frame or a dark green one but I decided I wanted to highlight my favorite part of the turtle which is her colorful shell.

Friday Progress Photos!

Hello stitchers!  I can't believe that it has really been 3 whole months since my last post!  Well it has been a busy summer.  I was able to go back home to the US with my family and have a bit of a summer vacation :)  I even visited a LNS and got some goodies while there!  I still have so much to add here to update and I even have had my 6th finish of 2017.  But I will start with my current progress.  Way back when I first started this blog almost 5 years ago now I used to do weekly progress photos on Fridays and I want to try to get back into doing that.  So here is my progress for the week on one of my WIP's Floss Daily by Wee Little Stitches.

This is where I was after working on it the last time which I know was sometime in 2016...



The needleminder is one I had purchased from the Minding my Minders going out of business sale last October.

And here is my progress from two evenings until now!





I love this design so much and I feel like I could probably finish it in about a week or so!  The variegated floss is all cotton from Mo's Sale, and my plan is to use all hand dyed threads to fill in the floss bobbins of the design.  I really do hope that I can finally get you caught up with all of my stitchy progress and share posts with you on a more regular basis.

I didn't get very much done this time, I only started the bobbins on the second row...but progress is progress!

Olympic SAL Day 10 - Equestrian Events

After learning how to "park" my stitches working on other HAED's it felt so strange not to park and to stitch "cross-country".  I always love working on this design due to the beautiful bright colors of the floss :)

Olympic SAL Day 8 Triathalon - Stitch on three pieces

For Triathlon Day I worked on Winter House's red door, part of the lawn of Summer House and used the same color on the siding of Autumn House. All of these designs are by Brooke's Books on fabric by Stitchnmomma.

Stitchnmomma Fall Fiesta Exchange

Earlier this fall I participated in the Fall Fiesta Exchanged sponsored by one of my favorite designers Stitchnmomma.  In this exchange you stitched a fall themed piece for your partner and also sent a small fall themed treat.

This is the piece that I made for my partner Kelly.  I found the pattern online and I used her Stitchnmomma fabric and threads from Mo's Sale.

I had originally started it on another fabric from Stitchnmomma here... but it was turning out to be way too big for the size box I could use to send it, and the weave of the fabric was too loose for my taste.

I think it turned out fairly well and I sent her a few Taiwan goodies but I forgot to get a photo of them.

The person who drew my name was Dana and this is what I was so lucky to receive!



She made the lovely Autumn pillow and sent the Halloween magazine, fall list pad, and some spiced apple cider :)

I am currently using the pillow to help decorate my home for fall.  This was my first time participating in a stitched item exchange and I really treasure the time the other stitcher took to make the pillow to send to me.

Stitch Maynia: Day 21 Floss Daily

This challenge has really helped me finally use a lot of my stitchnmomma fabric that I purchased when I started this blog. Stitch Maynia: Day 4 Spring House

Day 4 was Spring House by Brooke's Books. I didn't get as much done because I was celebrating May the 4th by watching the new Star Wars movie :)  This is stitched on Light Nile Green #955, 22 count Aida on fabric from Stitchnmomma.

I got some of the white picket fence and started the flowers on the right side of the design.  I am using two threads practicing with the loop method of stitching.  I'm not sure if I will regret using two threads on such a small fabric count...I hope it works out!  I am really enjoying the loop method though.  I always used to hate starting new projects because I did not enjoy trying to leave a small tale and make sure that my first few stitches tacked it down.  The loop method is very freeing!  You can start anywhere you want!  See you soon...Happy Stitching!

Stitch Maynia: Day 3 Winter House

Day 3 is Winter House by Brooke's Books.  This is a 4 part freebie you can get when you join the yahoo group for Brooke's Books.  I have been a member of this group for almost 4 years and I finally got around to printing these off for this Stitch Maynia challenge.  It is stitched on Light Nile Green #955, 22 count Aida on fabric from Stitchnmomma.



I managed to get a start on the fence for Winter House reaching the whole width of the design which will be great when I start Autumn House just to the right of it :)  I plan to stitch all four season houses in a row next to each other.   Also while stitching all of these designs I would very frequently get the old Carole King song "You've got a friend" stuck in my head due to the line..."Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you've got to do is call..."

Stitch Maynia: Day 2 Keep Calm 8th Finish of 2016

I'm going to really try to post every day or maybe a few a day of my 31 Stitch Maynia 2016 projects.  Here's my day 2 start. Keep calm and cross stitch freebie from DMC.

 The Fabric is dark lavender #209 16 count Aida from Stitchnmama, and the floss is Judy cotton floss from Mo's Sale.

This was after the second stitching session.  I found a mistake...I made the horizontal line in the E's too wide, but I hope you won't notice when its all done.



I took this piece with me on a weekend trip by train to Hualien, Taiwan.  The train ride was 3 hours each way and I completely finished the crown on the ride!  I stitched the word Cross when we got home.



And here she is completely finished!  I started her on May 2nd and finished on August 1st, 2016.  You can really notice how the color of the fabric changes based on the lighting in my apartment.  This is technically my 8th finish of the year.  Numbers 3,4,5, and 6 were also completed Stitch Maynia projects, and number 7 is for an exchange I have coming up.  This was my first time stitching with variegated floss where I completed each X trying to show off the color changes.  I think it turned out well :)



I decided to show off the back since this is one of my more neater backs :)

The Traveling Pattern Giveaway "Life's A Stitch" 5th finish of the year!

 Hello Stitching friends!  I am back with another quick finish :).  I think I am starting to get addicted to smalls since they go so much more quickly than the larger patterns I usually stitch.  Anyways on Thursday I received the Lizzie Kate "Life's A Stitch" in the mail all the way from Virpi in Finland. I planned to get started on it quickly so that others would have a chance to stitch it, but then it really hit me that I could have my baby at any time now (I am due exactly one week from today!) and I would hate to sit on this project for longer than necessary.  So I promptly started it on Friday March 28th and then finished it on Sunday March 2nd!

 

 

Here is my finished piece!  I stitched it on 18 count Hand Dyed Ultra Very Dark Desert Sand from Stitchnmomma's Etsy Shop.  She was having an amazing 50% off sale and I purchased a few fabrics earlier in the week.  This was perfect because I am currently separated from most of my stash until sometime in May and I was able to use this new purchase along with the left over threads from Diamond Avenue to complete this design.  This is actually my first time stitching a Lizzie Kate design after admiring them on so many other blogs!  

 

This travelling pattern started out in lovely Canada, and since then it has travelled to France, Finland, the USA and even South Africa!

First HAED start Mom and Baby Turtle

One of my crafty goals for 2013 was to start a HAED or Heaven and Earth Designs piece.  A few months back I had purchased two charts from two very beautiful pieces of art by the artist Annya Kai.  I was able to meet my goal and start this piece "Mom and Baby Turtle" on January 30th, 2013.

Please excuse the poor quality and color due to taking these late at night and with the camera on my phone but here are some progress pics of the first tiny page of the design.

 

 

I decided to stitch it on Dark Seagreen Hand Dyed 16 count Aida that I purchased from Stitchnmomma back over the Christmas holiday in 2012.  The details are a bit fuzzy since a month has passed now but for this first page it only took me about a week to complete!  I decided to use this as a reward stitch and finish up or work on a few other projects before I get back to this one. 

 

I rather enjoyed stitching the "confetti" stitches but we'll see how I feel after I work on a much larger page with more stitching on it.
