Whine and WIPS June

Back in June I participated in a SAL in Stitch Maynia called Whine and WIPs.  Basically you choose some of your work in progresses that you whine about somehow for a whole month.  Some people picked tricky designs, or ones they are making for other people, but my choice was my old pal Girl with a Pearl Earring.

I chose this one because it makes me whine that I would really like to finish it this year, and also I was at the point where there is a lot of stitching with yellows and browns which are not favorite colors at all.  Anyways when I started in June (after a few days with no stitching after starting a new project each day with Stitch Maynia previously) I was where you can see below, except the head scarf was finished I just didn't have an overall photo of it complete.

And here are some of my progress pictures.

I had completed Page 7 of the design here below.

And here is where I left off at the end of the month!  I got quite a lot of stitching done on this design this month.  And at this point I only have two smaller pages left to complete and around 3 months left if I want to try to finish her this year!  Do you think I can finish her this year?  That is my goal.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Stitch Maynia: Day 1 LOVE string art kit Start and Finish!

Did I decided to participate in Stitch Maynia this year????

YES! I did.  I think working on the big owl growth chart that I felt obligated to stitch really made me want to have a new start sooo bad.  So I figured why not do 31 starts?  I have so many designs in my stash that I want to start someday, why not do it in May with others who are also doing the same thing?  At first it seemed hard to make it all the way to 31 starts.  I had a few kits and projects kitted up, but then I also bought a few new charts that had been on my wishlist for years.

Well this was my first start on Day 1...

And I have a finish of my first Maynia start LOVE string art kit by Dimensions!

This is my 3rd finish of 2016!!  This isn't actually cross stitch but it did use a needle and fiber.  The needle was VERY big compared to the size 26's I usually use, and the thread was yarn.  For this kit I had to use my imagination a bit on it to make the long stitches to fill in the letters as best as I could. The O with the heart in the center was the easiest part since it was so symmetrical.   It is done on sort of a thick felt piece with pre punched holes for the outlines of the letters.  This was one of my Christmas presents from my Mom this year :)  So on Day 1 of 31 I managed to get a finish!  I hope that this keeps up thru the rest of the Month long challenge but we shall see.  Until then...Happy Stitching!

Last and Fifth Finish of 2015!

Hello again!  In December I managed to get my last and fifth finish of 2015.  You may remember my run in with some really poor quality black 14 count Aida...I had issues with the fabric ripping when I pulled a few stitches tightly and then the fabric completely ripped on its own on the fold lines while it made the long journey back with me from Michigan to Kathmandu :(

But while I was home I decided to try again and I ordered some black aida from a reputable source (123 Stitch.com) and started this design again.

This is by Heather at One of a Kind Baby Design on Etsy.  She designed the baby sampler I stitched for my son and then I found this lovely design that matched the space exploration theme of my friends sons room!

Here are the progress photos...

Ta Da!

This one looks a little crooked because I set it on my lap to take the photo.

It's funny when you stitch and you look at the finished piece and you are reminded of what you were watching or what was going on in your life when you were working on a piece.  Well when I worked on this one, I was  a passenger riding through a bad snowstorm to pick my husband up from the airport.  On our way home we were stopped at a stop sign on an off ramp of the expressway and the truck we were riding in got rear-ended!  Luckily no one was hurt and there was little damage done to both vehicles but I was reminded of that experience when I see the finished product of this design.

Also today is this handsome little boy's 1st Birthday and hopefully his Momma should be opening this gift framed in a beautiful silver frame to complement the design in the mail.  I will have to ask her for a picture of it all finished :)

I can't wait to share more of my finishes with you soon.  Until then...Happy Stitching!
