Olympic SAL Day 17 - Olympic Medals - Copper/Bronze

For the very LAST day of this SAL I chose to work on Purity, Strength, Truth, or as I like to nickname it Buddha by Dimensions.

Here was where I was after starting in for Stitch Maynia...

And here is a close up of my progress!

It's really hard to tell but this is part of Buddha's chest and shoulder.  I enjoyed working on this WIP a lot, and I can't wait until I pick it up again.

This challenge was a lot of fun!  It helped me to touch a lot of my WIPs that hadn't gotten any love since I started them for Stitch Maynia 2016.  Thank you for staying with me on my stitching journey!

I have one more challenge to update you on which was the November Election challenge for Stitch Maynia, and a few finishes to share with you and then I think I might finally be caught up on sharing my stitching progress with you!

Thank you again for your support and encouraging comments!

Olympic SAL Day 16 - Olympic Torch - Fire or Flames

The only WIP I have that has flames in it is San Francisco by Candamar Designs.  It is a kit that comes with pre-printed fabric and you just stitch a little bit to embellish the design.

Here is what it looks like overall...

I had previously added the black half stitches below...

And during this stitching session I added the flames in the lamp post and the red half stitches.

I am not a huge fan of stitching on printed designs so this isn't really my favorite WIP to work on.  But the stitches do help to highlight areas of the design.  See you soon...Happy Stitching!

Olympic SAL Day 15 - Olympic Medals - Silver

Here is my progress on Paris by Thea Gouverneur.  I switched out the white evenweave that came in the kit with this beautiful color Brigid of hand dyed fabric from Under the Sea Fabrics.

This was my starting point...

I enjoyed stitching this design.  It will be exciting when I finish one of the quilt blocks...it will feel like a mini finish, and I get to have 50 of them.

Happy Stitching!

Olympic SAL Day 13 - Olympic Medals - Gold

Olympic Medals: Gold! I finally got to use more than one color. This is "I Love You" by Love Thy Thread or as I call it The Princess Bride.

This is Floss Daily from Wee Little Stitches, this was also a Stitch Maynia start.  This is stitched on hand dyed fabric from Stitchnmomma.

I didn't get very much done this time, I only started the bobbins on the second row...but progress is progress!

After learning how to "park" my stitches working on other HAED's it felt so strange not to park and to stitch "cross-country".  I always love working on this design due to the beautiful bright colors of the floss :)

See you soon and Happy Stitching!

Olympic SAL Day 9 - Olympic Rings - Red

I really enjoy stitching this design!  First because I am a very patriotic person, and second because since it is mostly backstitch it stitches up quickly.

See you soon and Happy Stitching!

Olympic SAL Day 8 Triathalon - Stitch on three pieces

For Triathlon Day I worked on Winter House's red door, part of the lawn of Summer House and used the same color on the siding of Autumn House. All of these designs are by Brooke's Books on fabric by Stitchnmomma.

It was fun to pull out this piece to work on.  I haven't touched it since I took it on my trip to a resort in Nepal where I got to stitch in the clouds!

It was fun to add a color that wasn't white in this design and fun to see part of the house take shape.  See you soon and Happy Stitching!

Olympic SAL Day 2 Opening Ceremony - International Theme

This is my Opening Ceremony International theme piece Bushmarket by Hanne's Needlecraft on Etsy. Fabric is 14 count Aida hand dyed by Mo's Sale.

I'm so happy I got to stitch on the mom with her baby strapped on her back with a piece of fabric! That was one of my favorite memories of living in Africa, seeing women walking towards you with tiny baby feet poking out at their sides.

See you soon!

Olympic SAL Day 1 August 5th Olympic Rings - Blue

Hello :)  I am trying desperately to get caught up and stay on top of things showing you all my stitching progress.  WAY back in August of last year I participated in the Olympic SAL through Stitch Maynia group on Facebook.  This was a really fun SAL and it helped me to make some more progress on my Stitch Maynia starts.

Here is Aug 5th Olympic ring blue! I wasn't planning on a new start since I just had so many new starts (31!) in May...but I got this fabric in the mail today and couldn't resist starting Joan Elliot's Edwardian Lady.

No automatic alt text available.

I received this pattern from my exchange partner in the Under the Sea Summer Exchange, and it is my first time stitching a Joan Elliott design.  The dress the lady is wearing really reminds me of one of the scenes in the movie Titanic and Rose's iconic hat and costume.  What do you think?

No automatic alt text available.

The fabric is I believe called Heathered and is a 32 count linen from Fabrics by LJ.  I am usually not a fan of stitching on linen due to the rough feel of the fabric and the irregular slubs that can be woven into the fabric.  But I do love how well linen takes dyes and the results are some beautiful fabrics with very strong, deep colors.

Get ready to see a lot of new posts from this challenge and one other so I can finally catch you up on my stitching.

Happy Stitching!😇
